چکیده
Snu-Yao Tsai et al., (2011) isolated the essential oils from the dried rhizomes of Curcuma aromatica salisb, Curcuma longa and Curcuma sichuanensis using simultaneous steam distillation and solvent extraction apparatus. Antioxidant studies were also carried out for these essential oils. Effectiveness for scavenging 1,1diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radicals was found to be less in Curcuma aromatica than Curcuma sichuanensis and Curcuma longa.

متن کاملFactors Affecting the Accumulation of Curcumin in Microrhizomes of Curcuma aromatica Salisb
Curcuminoids, and mainly curcumin, are potential therapeutic agents for the prevention of various diseases; however, little is known about the factors that influence their accumulation in Curcuma species. In this study, the effects of factors such as sucrose concentration, different ratios of 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA) and α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA), and light quality on the accumulation o...

متن کاملCurcumin induces apoptosis involving bax/bcl-2 in human hepatoma SMMC-7721 cells.
Curcumin is a major active component of Curcuma aromatica salisb, which has been shown to inhibit proliferation of a wide variety of tumor cells. In this study, the molecular mechanisms of curcumin inducing apoptosis in human hepatoma SMMC-7721 cells were examined. We find that curcumin inhibits the growth of SMMC-7721 cells significantly in a concentration-depenent manner, with typical apoptot...
متن کاملNigella damascena L. Essential Oil-A Valuable Source of β-Elemene for Antimicrobial Testing.
The most commonly used plant source of β-elemene is Curcuma wenyujin Y. H. Chen & C. Ling (syn. of Curcuma aromatic Salisb.) with its content in supercritical CO₂ extract up to 27.83%. However, the other rich source of this compound is Nigella damascena L. essential oil, in which β-elemene accounts for 47%. In this work, the effective protocol for preparative isolation of β-elemene from a n...
